C4L Joins Rand Paul in Fighting the Zombies

Halloween may be over but the monsters are still haunting us . . . especially in Washington, D.C.

On Halloween Senator Rand Paul, Chairman of the Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Reform (or FSO), held a hearing on “Rise of the Zombies: Unauthorized and Unaccountable Government you Pay For.”

The legal authority for these zombie programs has expired but Congress continues to fund them. These unauthorized programs cost taxpayers $3 billion a year.

With the deficit approaching $1 trillion dollars, there is no excuse for Congress to continue funding these zombie programs.

Senator Paul has proposed legislation in the past, the Legislative Performance Review Act, that would require Congress to regularly review federal programs and either reauthorize, consolidate, or eliminate them.

You can watch a video of the hearing here.
