In an update to yesterday's post, "Free the Seed!," the local news in Louisville is reporting the DEA will stand down and has agreed to release the hemp seeds by the end of the week.
The apparent agreement came from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture applying for an import permit that the DEA promises to expedite in order to release the seeds in short order.
The article notes this situation appears to have come to a better resolution than in 1996, when actor Woody Harrelson was arrested for planting four hemp seeds in an act of civil disobedience.
UPDATE: Or will they? Stay tuned for more information as it develops this week.
UPDATE 2: The AP reports Kentucky Department of Agriculture is now suing the federal government to release their hemp seeds.
