Petition Calling on Texas Legislature to Pass Legislation Banning Red Light Cameras in Texas
Please tell the Texas Legislature to stand up for their fellow Texans by passing legislation fully banning the use of red light cameras in our state.
Texas Campaign for Liberty is unwilling to support anything less than a statewide ban on the use of these cameras.
Politicians in Austin, as well as those in municipalities around the state, are desperate to continue this money-grab on the backs of Texas motorists. Rather than admitting Red Light Cameras are merely a way for local governments to cash in on unsuspecting citizens and visitors who are intimidated into waiving their rights, they are raising millions of dollars through the use of these cameras (and other nefarious "fees") while bilking Texans out of their hard-earned money.
Please sign the petition below and let the Texas State Legislature know that we will accept nothing less than a statewide ban on these cameras.

Whereas: Red Light Cameras are a direct violation of rights protected by the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution; and
Whereas: Evidence shows that Red Light Cameras are being used to generate funds, and not to promote safety, as claimed by Legislators and Councilmen; and
Whereas: The State of Texas and municipalities throughout the State, continue to seek avenues to fund their out-of-control spending rather than make necessary cuts; and
Whereas: Red Light Cameras are detrimental to safety, because they are placed in dangerous locations where signal timing has been altered to increase revenues; and
Whereas: Studies done in Texas have shown that the use of Red Light Cameras increases accidents, contradicting the claims made by the private companies who operate them.
Therefore, be it resolved that we, the undersigned urge you to support legislation that would fully ban the use of Unmanned Traffic Control Devices used to generate tickets, specifically Red Light Cameras, with no exceptions.
