Dear Georgia Citizen,
The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), along with a consortium of other defense contractors, is pushing to use at least six sites in Georgia (and one in nearby Eufaula, Alabama) as launching pads for the testing of unmanned surveillance aircraft, or drones. Dedicated Gilmer County patriots managed to get GTRI to back off their planned use of the Gilmer County Airport, but residents at most of the other sites have not been as successful. Please help us ban the use of these dangerous drones for illegal spying on Georgia's citizens!

Keep Georgia's Skies Drone-Free!to My State Senators and Representatives:WHEREAS: The Georgia Tech Research Institute is leading a consortium of defense contractors seeking to operate unmanned drones equipped with cameras, radar, and ground emitter detectors from seven sites in and around Georgia; and WHEREAS: Drones have the potential for abuse by government agents to spy on citizens without a warrant or probable cause; and WHEREAS: According to the U.S. Air Force, drones have "serious mishaps or crashes" 307% more often than manned military aircraft; and WHEREAS: There is nothing preventing GTRI from flying these drones over private property or from tracking vehicles over public roads, THEREFORE: We demand that the Georgia General Assembly pass legislation to ban the operation of drones over public property without a valid warrant or over private property without either a valid warrant or the express written permission of the property owner. |
