Even with the Newton school millage rate maxed out at 20.00, and the county rate already at 10.91, our Board of Commissioners is looking to raise taxes on you again!
While Newton families must cut their budgets to buy groceries and fill gas tanks, our spendthrift, tax-addicted county government has increased their budget and expects you to pick up the tab! Worse still, they are deceptively calling this increase a “rollback rate,” as if they can stealthily take an even bigger slice of your family income. Sign our petition to the Newton County Board of Commissioners right NOW and tell them to OPPOSE the Newton Property Tax Hike!

Petition to Oppose Property Tax Hiketo Newton County Board of Commissioners:WHEREAS: The school millage rate in Newton County is already maxed out at 20.00, and the county millage rate is already 10.91; and WHEREAS: The citizens of Newton County must make spending cuts to their individual and family budgets in order to meet their financial obligations during these tough economic times; and WHEREAS: The Newton County BOC, by increasing their budget and raising the millage rate six percent to 11.59, will put an undue burden on the citizens of Newton County; and WHEREAS: Despite the Board’s deceptive use of flowery language to disguise this tax hike, public input on the new tax is vocal and overwhelmingly negative. THEREFORE: We demand the Newton County Board of Commissioners oppose any new tax hikes on the citizens of Newton County and balance their budget through responsible cuts in spending. |
