Dear Wichita Taxpayer,
Your Wichita City Council has the nerve to neglect the infrastructure of our great city, while wasting your tax dollars and giving no-bid and high-bid contracts to their campaign contributors.
Now they say they need a city sales tax increase to take care of roads, sewers, and water.
They claim the tax increase will support a new plan for supplying water to Wichita for the future. But they don’t have a plan.
They have even earmarked some of the additional revenues for further “economic development.” In other words - more money for their friends and fishing buddies!
Higher sales taxes hurt Wichita retail businesses, they hurt the poor, and they make Wichita business less competitive.
We can stop this nonsense. Sign the petition below to tell our mayor and city council you will not stand for a Wichita sales tax increase!

Petition to Control Spending and Oppose the Sales Tax Increase in Wichita, Kansas
Whereas: The Wichita City Council has wasted money on high-bid and no-bid contracts offered to campaign contributors; and
Whereas: The Wichita City Council has wasted money on “economic development” in the form of special grants and tax breaks to new businesses that compete with businesses making up the current tax base; and
Whereas: The Wichita City Council plans to use some of the revenues from the proposed tax increase to further such misguided “economic development;” and
Whereas: The Wichita City Council has not carefully studied important options for providing a future water supply to Wichita, and there is no firm plan for how the Wichita water supply should be assured.
Therefore: The taxpayers of Wichita demand that the Mayor and City Council of Wichita reject any proposals to increase the Wichita sales tax.
