Drunk with power, our Sedgwick County officials are planning to implement a new round of lockdown-style restrictions on businesses and gatherings in violation of the Kansas State Constitution, and our most basic and fundamental rights.
We all know the incredible thoughtlessness of such tactics as we have seen many friends and neighbors lose their jobs and businesses and descend into poverty and hopelessness as a result of these heavy-handed tactics.
America was founded upon personal responsibility and self-governance, and draconian measures like those seen in communist China have no place in our constitutional republic.
It's up to liberty-loving Kansans like you and me to stop this madness.
Sign the petition below to Say NO To Sedgwick County Shutdowns and demand they keep our county open.
--------------------
Whereas: A county order to shut down Sedgwick County by closing or restricting businesses and gatherings - effectively placing county residents under house arrest - will destroy our precious freedoms and irrevocably harm the livelihoods of many families and small businesses; and
Whereas: Such an order would likely lead to consequences far worse than the virus itself in the areas of poverty, mental health, substance abuse, and more; and
Whereas: Such an order would be a direct violation of the Kansas Bill of Rights, including (but not limited to) Sections 1, 3, and 7; and
Whereas: The residents of Sedgwick County have the right to take personal responsibility for their own well-being, as guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution
Therefore: We the people of Sedgwick County demand that the County Commission reject any lockdowns, limits on gatherings, business closures or restrictions, or a "stay at home" order and keep Sedgwick County open so that we may take personal responsibility for our own personal safety and decide for ourselves whether or not to work, shop, gather, and in general be free to exercise our pre-existing and constitutionally protected right to do so.
