Dear DeKalb Citizen,
DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis and the DeKalb County Commission are at it again!
On top of the 2011 millage rate increase, and on top of rapidly rising water and sewer rates, they want to raise your property taxes.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Sign our petition below, and TAKE ACTION!

Petition to Stop Property Tax Hikes in DeKalb To the DeKalb County Commission: Whereas: in December 2010, the Dekalb County Commission approved a three year water and sewer rate increase for 2012, 2013 and 2014; and Whereas: this rate increase will result in an 11% increase in the water and sewer bills of DeKalb residents; and Whereas: the DeKalb County Commission approved a 4.35-mill property tax rate increase in July of 2011; and Whereas: DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis reported to the DeKalb County Commission that there was $8.7 million more than expected left over in the tax funds at the end of 2012; and Whereas: on January 31, 2013, the DeKalb County Commission voted to reject the proposed rate increase in a nonbinding straw poll; Therefore: we the undersigned residents of DeKalb County demand the DeKalb County Commission reject ANY AND ALL millage rate increases proposed by DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis or any member of the DeKalb County Commission; and Furthermore: we demand the DeKalb County Commission further reduce spending, which will allow the DeKalb County Government to live within its means without placing further tax burdens on its residents and businesses. |
