Dear Brookhaven Resident,
Remember when most of the people running for Brookhaven City Council promised lower taxes?
Well, it didn’t take long for them to break their promise.
Only six months after the city was founded, Mayor J. Max Davis has recommended a 3.35 millage rate, the highest tax rate allowed under the City charter, and the City Council will likely pass the increase -- unless you stop them!

Petition to Control Spending and Lower Taxes to my Brookhaven Mayor and City Council
WHEREAS: The City of Brookhaven was founded on a promise of lower taxes than residents were paying as part of unincorporated DeKalb County; and WHEREAS: Mayor J. Max Davis has proposed a millage rate of 3.35, which is the highest rate allowed by the city charter; and WHEREAS: A millage rate of 1.59 will keep taxes at the same rate taxpayers would have paid for the same services under DeKalb County. THEREFORE: The taxpayers of the City of Brookhaven demand that the Mayor and City Council keep their promise of LOWER taxes and establish a millage rate of no more than 1.59 mills. |
