Ron Paul, Movie Star?

Campaign for Liberty Chairman Ron Paul is appearing in two libertarian-themed films this year. Dr. Paul will make a cameo in Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt?, the third, and final, installment of the cinematic adaptation of Ayn Rand's classic novel. The film is due in theaters September 12 of this year.

Dr. Paul also makes a cameo in Alongside Night, a film adaptation of J. Neil Schulman's 1979 libertarian-themed novel. Like Atlas Shrugged, Alongside Night takes place in a future America ravaged by inflation, crony capitalism, and authoritarianism. Schulman, who wrote and directed the movie, does an excellent job in interweaving an introduction to Austrian economics and libertarian political philosophy into the story.

I read Alongside Night when I was in college, and it helped inspire me to want to learn more about the freedom philosophy and become active in the liberty movement. I was able to attend an advance screening of Alongside Night, and I quite enjoyed it. This may be a good movie to show to a friend who you are trying to get interested in learning about our ideas and joining our movement.

I also enjoyed the first two Atlas Shrugged movies and was looking forward to part three even before I learned that Dr. Paul would be in it.

Dr. Paul recently talked to J. Neil Schulman about Alongside Night and the liberty movement on the Ron Paul Channel. You can watch the interview here.

You can find out where and when Alongside Night will be showing in your area, as well as get information about arranging a screening of Alongside Night, at the movie's official website.
