"The Drone President," Pat Buchanan called President Obama this morning.
It is a fitting title for a President who, without any consultation or authority granted by Congress has bombed at last count at least 4 countries (Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya) and perhaps elsewhere that for "national security reasons" Americans aren't privy too that information.
On MSNBC's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough ripped into the media for their deafening silence over Obama's unconstitutional, undeclared drone wars.
"I am stunned media that the national in the United States of America has remained silent over the past three years while Barack Obama has pushed a policy that has us bombing countries where war has not been declared and deciding to kill 15, 20 people to incinerate 3-year-old, 4-year-old children and 80-year-old grandmothers that happen to live in the same home as a terrorist, as a target.
Not only has the media been silent, they've been complicit in shaping the narrative that everything is fine with this President's actions.
After the Libyans claimed to have ousted Qaddafi, the media widely covered the story with a "might makes right" attitude. As if, now that Qaddafi is gone, Obama is vindicated for his decision to bomb Libya. A decision made without an act of Congress, and perhaps an even more Constitutionally egregious act - the President claimed his authority from a UN Resolution, in participation with NATO (an alliance that subsists on more than a plurality of American resources), and a tacit nod of approval from the Arab League.
Ends do not justify the means. Only just means can lead to just ends.
