One of the LPAC 2014 speakers I am most excited about is Bill Kaufman. Mr. Kaufman is a former DC editor for Reason magazine, and currently is a columnist for The American Conservative. Mr. Kaufman is also a contributor to a number of other publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Nation, USA Today, and The Guardian. He is also the author of ten books, including America First, Ain’t My America: The Long Noble History of Antiwar Conservatism and Middle American Anti-Imperialism, and Look Homeward, America: In Search of Reactionary Radicals and Front-Porch Anarchists. He is also one of my favorite writers, a sentiment shared by many of my old coworkers in the Ron Paul congressional office and many of my current coworkers at Campaign for Liberty.
As the book titles suggest, Mr. Kaufman is a champion of non-interventionist foreign policy and constitutional government. Mr. Kaufman's writing focuses on how the centralized state breaks down the bounds of community and how true conservatives will also value the local over the national. He this adds a unique and valuable perspective to the arguments for limiting the power of the central government to “run our lives, run the economy, and run the world.”
This is the first time that Mr. Kaufman has spoken at a Campaign for Liberty event since the Rally for the Republic in 2008.
