SPRINGFIELD, Virginia- Campaign for Liberty released the following statement from C4L President John Tate in response to the passage of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s massive tax hike on Virginians yesterday:
“It is absolutely appalling that a governor who claims to stick up for the Virginia taxpayer would usher through one of the largest tax increases in recent memory. Governor McDonnell increased taxes on every single Virginian today at a time when Virginians are struggling to make ends meet and deal with costly taxes and regulations coming from Washington.
“But Governor McDonnell wasn’t just content with Virginia raising taxes. In this bill he also calls on Congress to raise taxes on all Americans by passing the Internet Tax Mandate and imposing costly regulations on our nation’s job creators.
“Republicans were so eager to usher in this massive tax increase that they were willing to sell out to the Democrats and make Virginia a willing accomplice in ObamaCare by expanding Medicaid in order to do so. This bill is bad for taxpayers, bad for job creators, and bad for Virginia. Since someone has to stick up for the taxpayers of Virginia when tax-hiking politicians won’t, Campaign for Liberty will hold Governor McDonnell and Virginia Delegates and Senators accountable for their actions, now and for years to come. It is times like these that I am thankful Governor McDonnell will be out of office at the end of the year.”
