For an institution fanatically devoted to keeping the American people in the dark about its operations, the Federal Reserve does a remarkably poor job of preventing leaks.
The most recent leak occurred in June when economic projections, including interest rate projections, prepared by Federal Reserve staffers for the Federal Reserve's June Open Market Committee meeting, where "accidentally" posted on a public website.
During her appearance before the House Committee on Financial Services last month,Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's failure to cooperate with a Congressional investigation into a prior leak received harsh criticism from several Representatives.
If you agree that the American people should not have to rely on leaks in order to learn the full truth about how the Federal Reserve evaluates the economy, please make sure you sign the Audit the Fed petition to Congress.
