Whenever a politician tells you something, ask yourself: How does it benefit them if I believe them?
Currently, Union Bosses can force you to pay them dues even if you don't want their service. No other private organization is granted the incredible power to compel you to give them money.
Senator Hansen refuses to give us a written commitment to do the right thing, to support restoring your freedom of association, to support a roll call vote on full statewide Freedom to Work legislation.

After generating hundreds of calls to Senator Hansen’s office, he responded by calling Andrea Blachford and explaining things to her.

One of the first things politicians will do to get you to lay off will be to "explain how it works in Lansing. Senator Hansen didn't disappoint. He promptly called Andrea and "explained things" to her.
When politicians "explain things" to you, you need to ask yourself one question: How does it benefit them if we believe them?
The answer will almost always be: it would benefit them if we will lay off the pressure.
Senator Hansen actually told her that he supports our cause but will not give a written commitment.

This is what we call a "private promise" and it is worthless. When the politician betrays you, there is no proof that politician lied to you.
Politicians will give you excuses like not wanting to "alert" the opposition to their intentions. What this really means is that they are more afraid of the opposition than you and will likely side with them.
Think about this for a second. If they vote to support full statewide Freedom to Work, they will certainly be the recipients of the Union Bosses’ wrath. By supporting us in that vote, they will not be able to avoid upsetting the Union Bosses.
So how would that be different if they give us their written commitment now? It won't, the Union Bosses will always work to unseat them. So the reason for not giving us a written commitment does not have to do with inciting the Union Bosses to oppose them.
The real difference is, when it comes time to vote, they can betray you and claim they never committed to support you.
When a politician won't give you a written commitment, that means that they are still considering voting against you, plain and simple.
It's time to double down. We have to let Senator Hansen know that we will NOT back down. Contact him today and demand that he support Liberty and he give us his written commitment!
