According to a new study at the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University found that Amazon's sales decreased in states after they implemented an internet sales tax. Via The Daily Caller:
Households in the states that have the tax reduced their overall spending on Amazon by about 10 percent compared to those in states that have not implemented the Internet duty. The sales dropped even more dramatically (24 percent) for purchases costing more than $300.
This is ironic, considering Amazon is one of the biggest supporters of the Marketplace Fairness Act. Passage of this would undoubtedly hurt Amazon's smaller competitors.
