Ron Paul and Norm Singleton on Possible Attempts to Include an Online Gaming Ban in the Hurricane Relief Bill

Campaign for Liberty Chairman Ron Paul and President Norm Singleton issued the following statements regarding information Mr. Singleton received last night that legislation banning online gaming may be added to the legislation funding Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.

Ron Paul:  Sneaking an unconstitutional power-grab that threatens all of our liberties in the Hurricane Relief bill would be the latest evidence that this Congress has no interest in draining the swamp, respecting the Constitutional limits on federal power, or protecting our rights. This is especially the case since this is only being done to please neocon billionaire Sheldon Adelson. Instead of working to fill the disaster relief package with new assaults on liberty, Congress should be working to offset the disaster aid with spending cuts.

Norm Singleton:  If opponents of online gaming think they can exploit Hurricane Harvey to sneak Sheldon Adelson’s online gaming ban into law, they have another thing coming. Campaign for Liberty’s dedicated activists will put the heat on Congress and stop this sleazy deal and any other attempt to attach the Sheldon Adelson online gaming ban to any spending bill considered by Congress this year.
