SPRINGFIELD, Virginia – Campaign for Liberty President John Tate released the following statement after reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have reached a deal to suspend the debt ceiling and temporarily open the government:
"This so-called ‘compromise’ continues the old Washington way of thinking that we can close our eyes, plug our ears, and hum a tune while avoiding facing fiscal reality in perpetuity.
“GOP leadership is enabling President Obama and the Democrats to continue stealing from our children and grandchildren in order to finance the very same government programs that are wreaking havoc on the U.S. economy.
“It is no surprise after this latest sellout that the Republican Party is bleeding grassroots support left and right. Campaign for Liberty urges a NO vote on the Reid-McConnell plan.”
