SPRINGFIELD, Virginia- Today, Campaign for Liberty issued the following statement from C4L President John Tate after the Senate failed to advance the “USA Freedom Act” which would have extended key provisions of the Patriot Act until 2017.
"I am pleased the Senate did not move forward with extending the Patriot Act this evening,” said John Tate.
“I would like to thank Senator Rand Paul and Campaign for Liberty members across the country for leading the charge against the most egregious violation of Americans' civil liberties this century- The Patriot Act.
“Americans' constitutionally protected right to privacy must be vigorously protected and it is time to end these intrusive government programs that do nothing to enhance our national security.
“Campaign for Liberty will continue to work to end warrantless surveillance of Americans, rein in the NSA, and restore Americans’ civil liberties.”
