Yesterday, Dr. Ron Paul commented on reports that the U.S. House Leadership will strip the popular Massie-Lofgren amendment to reform NSA spying programs from the "Omnibus" bill, saying, in part:
As disconnected as Congress is from the American people, Congressional Leadership is even more disconnected with the rest of Congress. Removing this amendment would leave in place unconstitutional programs that the American people want to end.
The American people have a constitutionally protected right to privacy from intrusive government, and it is long past time to end the unconstitutional programs that greatly infringe on our lives while actually damaging our national security. I urge Campaign for Liberty members to tell their Representative to stand with the American people by opposing the removal of this important reform amendment from the CR spending bill.
Also on Thursday, Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY-4) spoke out on the House floor against the removal of his amendment, which passed the House in June by a vote of 293-123:
Call Congress today and urge your representative to oppose this trampling of the Massie-Lofgren NSA amendment.
